artScamp for kiddos
Know any kiddo s’campers who really love to make art and have the desire and focus to spend time on projects? This camp is for them! Using mostly sustainable, recycled and natural materials, S’campers will have the opportunity to explore new tinkering tools and methods. Projects will be based on the
process not product philosophy, with each s’camper focusing on their own creative goals, experiments and vision within the boundary of the materials and tools provided.
Age range is 8-12 years old, but most importantly, artScamp kids are able to create in community with joy and focus, are self-regulated*, and...their parents are comfortable with them using tools and techniques that require some care and safety.
*Self-regulated in that your child is able to be safe/responsible with real tools, respectful of off-limits spaces/items, listen to and follow limits and expectations, etc. Unfortunately, at this time, we don't have the ability to give a kiddo extra help in those areas and still stay true to the artScamp mission.
Is your child apprehensive about camp?
Kids can be overwhelmed by camps with dozens of kiddos and many transitions throughout the day. The noise, different activities and number of "new" spaces can be too much for some kiddos.
ArtScamp is small (never more than 10 kids), and is child-led. S'campers can take breaks and eat when they need to. We love the process of creating and we do it in a supportive and brave space. Art is all we do so there are no big transitions.
We work together as one group and foster a supportive and inclusive atmosphere for all s'campers. There are spaces where s'campers can go when they need to reset or take a moment for themselves.

Sessions run once a week for 4 weeks. Sorry no refunds for missed classes. If your s’camper misses a week because of illness, we will do our best to make up in another session if space and schedule allow.

A. 2:45-4:15
B. 3:30-5
C. 2:45-5
Time slot A and B: $160/session.
Time slot C: $220/session.

Walgrove Elementary families: If you want a 2:30 pick up at Appleton gate, please add $20 for the session.
Light snack will be served upon arrival.

Session 1: >> ages 8-12* >> June 23-27
Session 2: TWEEN CAMP >> ages 11-13* >> June 30, July 1, 2, 3 (no camp on 4th)
Session 3: >> ages 8-12* >> July 7-11
I’m not designating themes this year. I find the s’campers actually prefer a hodge podge of projects and I like to be able to shift to something they are interested in trying (and bale on things they are not so into) If you register, you can send me your s’camper’s requests and suggestions in the notes on the registration form.
$425 per week for sessions 1 and 3
$340 for session 2
The day will look sorta/ish like this (artScamp’s mission is to support creative flow, which can be hijacked by strict scheduling.)

> Quick art warm-up
> Intro & instruction for project of the day
> Project work
(snack/bathroom/milling about breaks as needed)
> 12pm lunch break/play
> Return to project for a bit
> Clean up
> 1:30pm pick up
If we have enough interest (at least 4 kids) we may offer aftercare until 3pm. Please let us know if you are interested when you register.
Each week, on last day, we have an artShow for friends/family 1:15-1:45pm
Camp will be held outside. There is a dedicated camp bathroom. S’campers bring their own lunches/snacks. We have filtered water for refilling bottles.
$425 per 5- day week/ $95 per day (when available see note below)

Registration is for full sessions. If we have space after June 14th, we may open up some single day spots. If you want to be on the wait list for that you can email me, but I can’t guarantee we will have the space.

*Note on Age Ranges of artScamp
I hold the age ranges for summer camp. It is hard to scale tools/process and projects to more than 4 year age span, and I am a very small camp. I have noticed that younger s’campers can get frustrated if motor skills required are beyond their current reach and a 4.5 hour day where we are making art the whole time is a bit much. If your child is younger than 8 and wants to try artScamp, I have an after school program during school year for little s’campers ages 6-8. I also do privates :)

artScamp after school runs in 4-week sessions most months and we often sell out.
